Goaltending isn’t just a position — it’s a craft.

At Moran Goaltending, we believe every goalie deserves the right attention, coaching, and development to succeed. Too often, goalies are overlooked in team settings — we change that by focusing on the technical skills, mental strength, and habits that truly set goaltenders apart.

Whether it’s on the ice or through mentorship off the ice, our goal is to help you grow, compete, and love the position even more.

Our Mission

At Moran Goaltending, our passion for the position runs deep. We believe every goalie deserves the dedicated coaching, attention, and resources they need to reach their full potential. Too often in minor hockey, goaltenders are overlooked—left without the specialized development that is essential to their growth. Our mission is to change that. We are committed to creating a positive, challenging, and supportive environment where goalies of all ages can sharpen their skills, strengthen their mindset, and build the confidence to succeed at every level of the game.

OUR SERVICES

On and Off-Ice Training Programs

At Moran Goaltending, we develop goalies on and off the ice. Our on-ice sessions focus on sharpening technical skills, footwork, and game-ready habits, while our off-ice training builds the strength, mobility, and mindset needed to compete. Together, these programs give goalies the complete foundation to perform with confidence every time they step in the crease.

At Moran Goaltending, we bring elite goalie development right to your team practices. This gives your goalies the specialized attention they deserve—without the added cost of booking extra ice. It’s the most effective way to maximize development while keeping training affordable.

I recently started working with Brent and I’ve already have had improvements in my game. He has fast pace and difficult drills that challenge me. He also video tapes our lessons and this is a way to not only feel better in the net but also see yourself improve. He has tons of experience playing and can relate with me and help guide me. FAQS

What ages or skill levels do you train?

I work with goalies of all ages and skill levels — from beginners just learning the fundamentals of the position, to elite junior and pro-level goalies striving to refine every detail of their game. My approach is built on personal experience, having been in those same shoes myself at every stage — from minor hockey, through major junior, and into the professional ranks. Whether it’s teaching a young goalie the core movements and mindset of the position, or helping an advanced goalie sharpen their reads, tracking, and edgework, every session is tailored to the athlete’s current stage and goals.

Where are your sessions located?

My in-person training sessions are based in the Ottawa area, but I also work directly with teams by attending their practices to provide goalie-specific coaching. This approach helps reduce the cost of training for goalies by eliminating the need for extra independent ice. In addition to on-ice work, I offer a range of online options — including mentorship programs over Zoom, custom off-ice training plans, and mindset development sessions — to support goalies wherever they’re located and help them grow year-round.

What makes your goalie training different?

My coaching is built on real experience from every level of the game — from minor hockey, through Major Junior, and into the professional ranks. I understand firsthand what goalies face at each stage of development, and I use that perspective to create training that’s practical, detailed, and game-relevant. Every drill and concept I teach is designed to build stronger fundamentals, sharper reads, and better control — with a major focus on edgework, tracking, and mindset. My goal is to help goalies not only improve their technique, but also develop the habits, confidence, and professionalism it takes to succeed at higher levels.

How do I register or book a session?

To book an on-ice session, the best way is to email me directly so we can coordinate ice availability, plan your training focus, and build a proper development schedule that fits your needs. For online programs — including mentorship sessions, mindset training, or custom off-ice plans — you can easily register through our scheduling system. If you’re unsure which option is right for you, just reach out by email and I’ll help set up the best path for your training goals.

Do you offer private, team, or online training options?

Yes — I work with goalies in several different formats to best support their development. I often attend team practices to work directly with goaltenders in their own environment, focusing on their individual needs and creating a plan that fits their stage of development. This approach not only provides position-specific coaching but also helps make training more accessible for teams and families. In addition to on-ice work, I offer a variety of online options — including mentorship sessions over Zoom, mindset and mental training, and off-ice development programs — designed to help goalies navigate the many ups and downs that come with the position and continue improving year-round.
